What dog longevity actually means
6 min read ·
People now talk about their own aging in a new register. Not just how long they might live, but how they want to move, recover, think and feel in the years they have. Mobility. Metabolic health. Resilience. The ordinary texture of a good day.
Pets have not been given the same language. For a long time, animal health has been organized around the problem that has already arrived: the limp, the lab result, the diagnosis. That care is essential. It is also incomplete.
Lifespan is the wrong headline
A longer life that is mostly discomfort is not the outcome most dog owners are asking for. They want another season of walks. Another morning on the kitchen floor. Another stretch of years in which their dog still feels like themselves.
I don't just want another year with him. I want another good year with him.
That is what we mean by pet longevity. Not a promise of extra years. A serious attempt to keep more of the years ahead healthy, active and worth having.
A category, not a compound
Peptides, diagnostics, nutrition, recovery, veterinary medicine and preventative care all belong in this conversation. No single product is the category. Better Years is being built so the company can grow with the science, and stay honest when the science is still early.
